In Sevastopol’s Southern Bay on October 27, a floating crane vessel capsized during operations at a shipyard facility, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to more than 20 others.
The incident involved the crane-vessel PK-700 “Grigoriy Prosyankin,” which overturned in the shipyard area while reportedly undergoing test movements. According to the Investigative Committee for Crimea and Sevastopol, the accident has triggered a criminal investigation under Article 263 Part 3 of the Criminal Code, relating to violations of transport safety rules.
Rescue teams at the scene retrieved at least 15 individuals from the water or crane structure, with several admitted to hospitals in moderate condition. Officials have begun assessments of vessel stability, ballast configuration and mooring arrangements as part of the technical review into the causes of the capsize.
