Heat pumps are expected to play a significant role in Europe’s means of achieving its net zero goals and Bosch Group announced a €1 billion investment in European heat pump production by 2030.
More specifically, the company stated how it has been investing heavily in European heat pump production since 2018 and aims to ramp-up even further to meet increasing demand.
The REPowerEU proposal plays a major role in this, as it aims for the installation of 30 million heat pumps in Europe by 2030.
According to the company, the heat pump demand in Europe is forecasted to increase at a 20% annual rate between now and 2025, while sales grew by 54% in 2022.
As for the €1 billion investment plan, €255 million is to be used for the construction of a new heat pump production site in Dobromierz, Poland, around 70 km from Warsaw. Work on the site is expected to begin in 2024 and last until 2026.
The rest of the investment is aiming to strengthen research and production capacity of the company’s already existing facilities on the continent.
