HS2 Ltd has launched the eighth round of its Innovation Accelerator programme, aiming to support the reset of Britain’s largest infrastructure project. The initiative, run in partnership with Connected Places Catapult, invites small technology specialists to propose solutions that improve value for money, enhance site productivity, and strengthen safety management. These priorities are part of HS2’s comprehensive review, led by the project’s leadership, to ensure efficient delivery and cost control.
Since its launch in 2020, the Innovation Accelerator has supported 37 technology firms, resulting in 31 pilot projects that collectively delivered more than £50 million in cost savings. The programme has also generated significant investment into small and medium-sized enterprises, with participating firms raising over £240 million in funding and creating more than 580 new jobs. More than 40% of these firms have expanded into other projects and supply chain contracts.

For the current round, applications opened on 23 September 2025 and will close on 31 October 2025. From the pool of applicants, twelve firms will be shortlisted and six will be selected to scale up their solutions for trial projects on HS2. The approach underscores how digital technology and external innovation can be integrated into large-scale construction projects, providing long-term benefits in cost, safety, and delivery performance.
