A joint venture between AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction has been awarded the role of construction manager for the Cleveland Browns’ new stadium project, with the total development cost estimated at $2.4 billion. The new venue, to be named New Huntington Bank Field and located in Brook Park, Ohio, is set to seat about 67,500 spectators, expandable to 75,000 for major events.
Funding for the stadium is split evenly between private investment and public sources: $1.2 billion from private capital and $600 million each from state and local government coffers. The stadium will incorporate a translucent roof constructed without the use of a long-span truss, a structural innovation intended to improve sightlines throughout the stadium. The facility is also engineered to bring fans closer to the playing field than any current NFL stadium, and will include a modernized “Dawg Pound” seating section for ardent supporters. The stadium’s translucent roof, described as Ohio’s first enclosed stadium roof, aims not only to allow natural light but also to amplify crowd noise on game days. Its design omits a truss the spectator bowl to avoid obstructing views.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2026, with construction activity expected to begin imminently. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2029, aligning with the NFL season. As part of broader commitments to the region, local inclusion is emphasized. Ohio-based organizations will share in both construction and site-preparation responsibilities. Employment across the project is projected to exceed 6,000 jobs during construction.
