Construction has formally commenced on the new Kop Stand at STōK Cae Ras, marking the transition from enabling works to full-scale structural delivery on one of Wrexham AFC’s most significant infrastructure projects. The redevelopment will deliver a 7,750-seat stand and increase total stadium capacity to just over 18,000, restoring the ground to a four-sided configuration. Upon completion during the 2026 to 2027 season, the stadium will meet UEFA Category 4 standards, enabling it to host top-tier domestic and international fixtures.

Prior to the main build, extensive preparatory works were completed within the constraints of a live and historically sensitive stadium environment. These included reduced-level excavation, formation of a stabilised construction platform, installation of a piling mat, relocation of hoarding, and creation of safe pedestrian routes and crane access zones. Piling operations have commenced and will continue into early 2026, forming the foundation system for the new superstructure. Drainage, internal service ducting, and ground floor slab preparation are progressing in parallel to maintain programme efficiency.

The principal construction phase will see reinforced concrete lift cores and slip-formed stability cores constructed to support the primary steel frame. Approximately 1,500 tonnes of structural steel, including long-span tubular roof trusses, will be erected from spring 2026. Precast concrete terrace units, followed by roofing, façade installation, and internal fit-out, will complete the build sequence. A detailed construction sequencing and environmental management strategy underpins the works, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and minimal disruption to surrounding stakeholders.
