At least 20 under-construction homes destroyed by fire in Vaughan, Ontario
A massive fire destroyed at least 20 $2-million-houses of a new under-construction development in Vaughan, Ontario, on Wednesday.
The fire started around 1 p.m., local time, on Wednesday and took about two and a half hours to be put under control by the 52 firefighters present on-site.
Vaughan’s deputy fire chief, Grant Moffatt, stated that at least 20 homes collapsed in the event and another 10 to 15 sustained heat damage. Moffatt also stated how the firefighters’ work was made harder by the windy, dry weather conditions which were present at the time. In addition to this, the houses were still under construction and had no fire protection installed yet.
The cause of the fire has not yet been known.
