According to newer research, the state of Washington is sinking in the ocean and the phenomenon has nothing to do with the rising sea levels on the planet!
Geologists claim that the subsoil of the state is precipitated significantly. Based on calculations, in the next 100 years the soil will "sink" more than six inches.
The research was conducted by the geological department of the University of Vermont. This phenomenon is a consequence of the effects that were created during the last ice age. A huge glacier had turned upwads the entire area. When the glacier melted 20,000 years ago, the land began to settle back down.
Of course, the sinking of Washington will take several thousands of years…
