The tent is called Cinch! and has the basic design of a pop-up tent, but it is more spacious and comfy, with large front and rear doors, two indoor vestibules and above-door awnings. It can be set up and packed away within seconds and includes integrated LED lighting and an optional solar power supply to recharge your gadgets. Its designer Jake Jackson loves camping, so he decided to develop his own tent, equipping it with these extra features. He started selling it in small batches, refining it along the way with feedback from customers. On December 2014, he started a successful Kickstarter campaign and managed to almost double his £50,000 initial goal.
The tent comes out for two, three or four people, depending on the model. Each tent folds down into a carry disc with shoulder straps, weighting between 5 and 9 kg (11 and 19 lb) and measuring between 70 and 90 cm (27.5 and 35 in) in diameter.
The available solar kit includes a roof-mounted solar panel, a small battery pack and lead wire that gets routed through an integrated weatherproof port on the tent wall. It also has a lock for securing the solar panel while you're away from camp and an interior storage hanger for the battery pack. The tents are available for preorder online, starting at £150 for the two-person and running to £190 for the four-person, whereas the solar power pack is listed at £90.
