The temple Meenakshi has 12 towers with the highest reaching 52 meters and covering an area of 45 acres and consists of 33,000 colorful statues.
It is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and her husband Shiva and there are 33,000 statues that depict scenes from their marriage.
The biggest part of the temple is 'protected' by ten towers. The tallest of them is the south tower that was built in 1559 and its height is 170 meters.
