The Dubai Metro Blue Line has reached a key early milestone of 10 percent overall completion, just five months after construction commenced in June 2025. According to the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, more than 500 engineers and global experts, together with around 3,000 workers, are deployed across 12 construction sites along the 30-kilometre alignment covering 14 stations.
The completed 10 percent includes significant foundation works: more than 260 deep foundations have been completed, and station-site excavations exceeding 400,000 cubic meters are underway at locations such as International City (1)–(3). Two ready-mix concrete plants and two yards for precast concrete elements have been established in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City to streamline the supply chain and accelerate production of structural elements.
RTA expects the project to reach 30 percent completion by the end of 2026, with operations targeted for 9 September 2029, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro network. The Blue Line connects major urban districts, including Creek Interchange (Green Line) to Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, International City, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Dubai Academic City, as well as a second branch from Centrepoint (Red Line) through Mirdif and Al Warqa to International City (1).
From an infrastructure and civil engineering perspective, the achievement reflects substantial early-stage investment in substructure works, site preparation, and material logistics, key enablers for the subsequent tunnelling, elevated track construction, and station superstructure phases. The alignment also includes the construction of a new depot and maintenance facility at Al Ruwayyah 3.
