Morocco is expanding its transportation infrastructure, with 300 kilometers of expressways under construction and 900 kilometers in the planning phase. These efforts are part of a broader national program designed to improve regional connectivity, strengthen economic ties, and support the country’s long-term development strategy.
Key projects include the expressway between Tiznit and Dakhla, which will link the Atlantic coast to Morocco’s southern provinces, and the Fez–Taounate corridor via National Road 8, aimed at improving northern accessibility. Development is also focused on connecting key maritime hubs, such as the Nador West Med port, to the highway network, with a dedicated 104-kilometer Guercif–Nador highway intended to facilitate cargo movement.
Urban infrastructure is also being addressed, particularly in Agadir, where a new northeast bypass and urban expressway are under construction to reduce congestion. Additional projects include the widening of National Road 6 and the Sidi Yahya–Sidi Kacem expressway along National Road 4, both designed to support central Morocco’s growing transportation needs.
In the Beni Mellal–Khenifra region, the Regional Road 710 widening project is among the key regional projects. Spanning 85 kilometers, it is part of a strategic state–region partnership and will bring the route to a nine-meter width. Execution studies for this segment are already at an advanced stage, with construction imminent.
