The Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) has recently unveiled plans for Aquarabia, poised to be the first and largest water theme park in Saudi Arabia. This exciting new development is set in Qiddiya City, adjacent to the upcoming Six Flags Qiddiya, which holds the distinction of being the first Six Flags amusement park constructed outside North America.
Aquarabia, embodying Qiddiya’s "Power of Play" principle, is designed to be a premier domestic destination for both local and international visitors. The park will feature twenty-two unique rides and a variety of family-friendly aquatic attractions. Among these, four attractions are set to break world records: the tallest water coaster, the largest drop body slide, the tallest water slide, and the longest mat racer. Additionally, Aquarabia will be home to the first underwater adventure ride featuring fully submersible cars, offering a truly unique experience for guests.
For those seeking thrilling water activities, Aquarabia will not disappoint. The park will host the Kingdom’s first surf pool and an extreme watersports zone where activities such as rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, free solo climbing, and cliff jumping can be enjoyed. Further enhancing the immersive experience, the park’s theme will center around the concept of ancient desert wellsprings and local wildlife in search of an oasis, providing a narrative-rich backdrop to the attractions.
Aquarabia is committed to sustainability, employing specialized filters that minimize energy consumption and drastically reduce water waste by up to 90% through the use of recycled water for cooling and irrigation. In line with these efforts, Six Flags Qiddiya City is dedicated to environmental conservation, aiming to divert over 80% of its operational waste from landfills by utilizing advanced recycling processes.
Abdullah Aldawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, stated, “This announcement marks a significant milestone for Qiddiya City and for the entertainment, tourism, and sports sectors. As we expand our entertainment offerings, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City will meet the diverse entertainment needs of our community, contribute to the diversification of our economy, and create job opportunities in the tourism sector.”
Adjacent to Six Flags Qiddiya, Aquarabia will complement an array of record-breaking attractions at the theme park, including the world’s tallest free-standing shot tower ride and the fastest roller coaster. Both parks are part of a walkable area in Qiddiya City that will offer tourists various accommodations and dining options in a serene, green oasis.
Currently under construction with a target completion year of 2025, both parks are in response to the growing domestic demand for innovative entertainment and leisure activities. These developments are integral to Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to boost local tourism, create jobs, and offer new leisure alternatives, thus contributing significantly to the Kingdom’s economic diversification and sustainability goals.
