A construction crane’s boom fell from the top of a building on a moving metro train in Taichung, Taiwan, on May 10, around 12.29 p.m.
More specifically, the crane was reported as being dismantled from the 31st floor of a building at the time of failure. Before landing on the tracks, the crane’s boom hit an archway located on the building’s first floor as well as a parked crane truck.
The reasons behind the crane’s failure are currently under investigation, while all work at the construction site has been halted.
One 52-year-old woman lost her life in the event, while reports of as many as 10 more injured have been made.
Finally, the train tracks were repaired overnight, and rail traffic resumed the next morning.
