Under-construction Boise Airport hangar collapses in Idaho

An airplane hangar collapsed on January 21, while being constructed in Idaho’s Boise Airport.

Furthermore, the collapse took place around 5 p.m., and the reasons behind it are still unknown.

A crane that was present on site at the time of the event also went down with the structure, while concerns have arisen about its possible involvement in the structural failure.

The hangar was privately owned, while it has so far been made known that it was a 39,000-foot metallic structure, based on concrete foundations, while at the time, the main frame had been erected.

Three people lost their lives in the event, while nine more sustained injuries, five of which were in critical condition.

A rescue operation was immediately launched, including the Boise Police, Gowen Field Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics, who stabilized the collapsed structure.

The incident is currently under investigation by officials of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), while according to their Boise office director, David Kearns, it could last up to six months.
