An open call was launched on April 18 by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), regarding proposals for key cross-border energy infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, the call was launched under the Connecting Europe Facility Energy (CEF Energy) and includes EU budget co-funding through €750 million of grants, for the work and studies of energy infrastructure projects of common interest (PCIs).
PCIs are key infrastructure projects which aim at completing the European energy market and providing affordable, secure, and sustainable energy to its citizens.
Selected PCIs can be offered several advantages, such as accelerated permit granting and improved regulatory treatment.
A deadline for proposal submission has been set on September 5, 2023, with grant agreements planned to be signed between February and June 2024.
This call is part of CEF’s €5.84 billion grant budget, aiming to support studies and construction of gas, electricity, smart grids, and CO2 networks between 2021 and 2027.
