Project Erebus: Wales’ first floating windfarm grants consent

The first floating windfarm in Wales was granted consent from the Welsh government on March 13.

Project Erebus will be located 40km offshore Pembrokeshire in West Wales and will initially consist of seven 14MW turbines. These turbines will have an energy output of approximately 100MW, enough to power 93,000 homes.

The initial seven-turbine project is scheduled to be delivered in 2026, while the goal is a 4GW first phase development in the Celtic Sea area, enough for about 4 million homes. According to Sky News, subsidy support from the UK government is anticipated for the completion of this project.

Future plans for the Celtic Sea area include several phases for the resulting development of a 20GW output windfarm, which will transform the energy sector.
