The final wind turbine was installed on Monday, March 25, at the Fécamp offshore wind farm in France, also marking the completion of Normandy’s first such project.
Furthermore, the farm is located some 13 to 24 kilometers off the coast of Normandy, and consists of 71 wind turbines, each featuring a 7 MW capacity.
This means that the project’s total capacity is roughly equal to 500 MW, or enough to cover 770,000 people’s power consumption. It is also worth noting that this number exceeds 60% of Seine-Maritime’s total population.
On the other side of the Atlantic, a significant offshore wind milestone was also recently reached with the last turbine being installed at the South Fork Wind Farm, New York’s first such project.
Moreover, South Fork’s last turbine was installed on February 20, 2024, while the project consists of 12 turbines in total, capable of powering about 70,000 Long Island Homes, having a capacity of 11 MW per turbine.
