A water main burst in front of the Twinkle Apartments in the Andheri suburb of Mumbai, India, shortly after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23.
What has been known so far is that the water main pipe had a 1200mm diameter, and its rupture caused a significant water spurt, reported to reach 8-10 stories in height.
The water supply in the pipeline was immediately halted and 15 officials and engineers rushed to the scene in order to initiate repair works, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Deputy Kandalkar, deputy municipal commissioner specializing in Engineering, stated that the cause of the event was a welded iron valve that got dislodged.
The pipeline was repaired by 11 p.m. on the same day and water supply through it was expected to start on the next day.
Finally, several videos circulated concerning the event, such as the ones below.
