The HS2 project marked another milestone in October 2025 with the opening of two new bridges near Leamington Spa, designed to maintain vital connections across the developing high-speed rail line. The Fosse Way Bridge, carrying the historic B4455 route, and the Offchurch Greenway Bridge, serving cyclists and pedestrians, now link communities while supporting sustainable transport infrastructure.
The Fosse Way Bridge, stretching 78 meters in length and 14 meters in width, follows the ancient Roman route between Exeter and Lincoln. It provides safe passage for local vehicles and includes a pedestrian walkway. The nearby Offchurch Greenway Bridge, measuring 68 meters long and 22 meters wide, forms part of a popular walking and cycling path connecting Leamington and Rugby. Designed with grass verges along its edges, the structure also supports local biodiversity by creating a wildlife corridor over the railway.

Both structures were constructed using precast concrete beams supported by reinforced piers, an efficient solution that reduced construction time and minimized on-site environmental impact. With their completion, HS2’s design teams can now remove the old sections of the B4455 to make way for the new railway cutting. These crossings are part of a wider regional effort, following the completion of the Welsh Road Underbridge and A46 box structure earlier this year.
