What has been dubbed as the world's skinniest hotel was inaugurated in December 2022, at the city of Salatiga, Indonesia.
Furthermore, the creator of this hotel is an architect who was raised in Salatiga and returned after working in Jakarta and Singapore.
Pitu in Javanese means seven, and it comes as no surprise that the hotel offers seven rooms, which measure 2.8 by three meters and 2.4 meters in height.
The structure expands over five floors that host the rooms and the employee spaces, as well as a central steel staircase. The building’s exterior is covered in Agra Red sandstone panels, while a bar-restaurant is occupying its top floor, and the plant room expands on its two ends on two cantilever steel structures.
It is worth noting that the hotel’s dimensions were a result of the strange small site it was built on.
However, its creator, Ary Indra, saw an opportunity to develop the world’s skinniest hotel, in an industry that is used to superlative words such as the biggest, tallest, and most luxurious.
Another challenge was creating the foundations for such a structure, combined with the site’s geometry.
The developers teamed up with structural consultants and decided to use a deep well foundation solution, to support the tall structure.
