New York City FC unveils renderings of new stadium in Queens

The New York City Football Club revealed renderings of its new stadium in Queens, on May 10.

The proposed stadium was presented through draft renderings and some specifications were given about it. More specifically, it was stated that the city’s first-ever 25,000-seat soccer-dedicated stadium will be privately financed and will come with an estimated cost of $780 million.

The stadium is scheduled to be constructed at Willets Point, Queens, as part of its revitalization plan. This plan is set to provide Willets Point not just with the stadium, but also 2,500 units of affordable housing, a 250-room hotel, various retail shops and a 650-seat public elementary school.

It is worth mentioning that the Willets Point revitalization plan was announced by the city’s mayor, Eric Adams, in November 2022 and so far, 100,000 tons of contaminated soil have been replaced with 80,000 tons of clean one on site, according to the Queens Daily Eagle.

Finally, NYCFC’s new stadium is set to be constructed across the road from the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where the US Open Tennis Championship is held, and be completed by the 2027 season.
