The Xintiandi Building, a high-rise office structure located in Tianjin, China, was engulfed in flames on Tuesday, August 22.
Furthermore, Xintiandi consists of 27 floors and two underground levels.
It was reported that the building’s exterior wall caught on fire, while the Tianjin Fire Rescue Center received a report about the incident at 2:24 p.m. local time.
There were 284 firefighters along with rescue personnel dispatched to the scene, as well as 62 firefighting trucks from 23 stations.
What is known so far is that the firefighting operation managed to extinguish the fire in the building’s outer insulation layer and then entered for evacuation and search.
An investigation is currently underway, while videos from the incident have emerged online.
