This clever shower device saves up to 50% of your water usage
Three friends from Santa Ana were so inspired by California’s drought that they decided to take matters into their own hands. They invented EvaDrop, a device that can help you save up to 50% of the water in the shower, while retaining the enjoyable experience. The EvaDrop is equipped with sensors, in order to provide the necessary amount of water depending on your needs and your distance from the showerhead (it cuts back the water flow during times when less of it is needed, such as while washing your hair or shaving your legs). It can be easily installed between the shower pipe and the shower head (it is compatible with 90% of them) and can also shut off your water flow once a desired temperature is reached, making sure no water is wasted before you get in. A fit-in timer will notify you when you are taking too long of a shower. It is also designed to connect to a smartphone app, allowing users to track their water usage and habits (by automatic data collection), and to compare that data with others that are also using the device. The innovative device is available for order at a cost of $99, meaning that it can pay for itself in less than a year.
Last year, the inventors ran a successful crowdfunding campaign and also got funding from the local brewery company Shock Top, joining forces under the campaign ‘Shock the drought’.
