One World Trade Center Is The Most Expensive Skyscraper in History

While One World Trade Center in New York tops the list of the tallest buildings in the western hemisphere, it also holds another distinction it is probably not so proud of: the world’s most expensive skyscraper. Buildings Analyst Emporis recently released a list of the top ten costliest skyscrapers in history. The $3.9 billion One World Trade Center tops the list followed by the $1.9 billion Pallazo in Las Vegas and the $1.9 billion The Shard in London. In fifth place is the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The $1 billion Bank of America building in New York is North America’s third representative on the list.

CNN recently compiled a list of the world’s tallest buildings scheduled for completion in 2015. The top ten list is dominated by China and the Middle east which each having four and three representatives on the list respectively. The Vostok Tower and the OSO-South Tower, both being built in Moscow, provide Russia with two buildings on the list, and North America’s lone representative comes from 432 Park Avenue in New York City.

A second harbour tunnel is within the State Infrastructure Strategy's development plans in Sydney. The new tunnel will be an extension to the M2 motorway, connecting Balmain to Lane Cove, and will offer motorists a bypass to the congested inner city.

Satellite nightlight images shed light on human exposure to floods

According to a recent study, the number of people living in flood susceptible regions has increased in the last 20 years, causing a significant rise of deaths and associated financial damage. The study was approved for publication in Geophysical Research Letters and was based on satellite nightlight images.
