WSDOT is currently undertaking a landslide prevention project along its Amtrak Cascades rail corridor aiming in eliminating service disruptions due to the frequent landslide occurrence of the past years. $16.1 million of federal funds will be used in identifying landslide susceptible locations along the rail line extending from Vancouver, Washington to the Canadian border, designing and constructing slope stabilization projects.
The 21st anniversary of the magnitude 6.7 1994 Northridge Earthquake, became the opportunity for announcing the upgrade of the water-pipe infrastructure around the Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Besides the specific location, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power officials plan the installation of the new technology pipes at key locations along the 7,200 mile water pipe network of the city, a project worth $10 million.
Officials are reporting that one person died and another was injured Monday night when a bridge collapsed on an I-75 overpass in Cincinnati, Ohio. The collapse occurred around 10:30 last night. Officials are reporting that the casualty was a construction workers and the injured person was a semi-truck driver. The semi-truck driver sustained multiple lacerations and is considered lucky to have survived.
