The Great Dam of Marib, one of the most impressive engineering feats of the ancient world and landmark in central Yemen, was damaged in an airstrike Sunday. While widespread communication shutdowns have limited any official investigation from the international community, several local news reports and images seen on social media confirm the damage.
Continuous movement and settlement accumulation occurring in Ritchard Dam, in Wolford Mountain Reservoir, is brought to the attention of the Colorado River District board of directors, which will now be responsible for adressing the issue. The 125ft dam, located 5 miles upstream of Kremmling, Colorado, holds back nearly 66,000 acre-feet of water and downward settlement, exceeding acceptable levels, is being recorded since 2008.
The planned Isimba Dam, with the force of the White Nile, would offer the much-needed electricity that the Ugandan government wants, since it could produce 183 megawatts but its reservoir will flood the area around the Kalagala Falls, which means that the ecosystem will be affected.
