Farmbot can offer precision farming and optimized care for your plants
Farmbot is an automated farming robot developed by Rory Aronson, with the vision of reinventing the way food is grown, making agriculture open and accessible to everyone. This farming machine plants the seeds and waters the plants, performing precise 3D movements and can even switch tools entirely on its own. FarmBot is controlled via mobile device or laptop, and users can organize their plot using a drag-and-drop farm designer software as simple as playing FarmVille! Its weather-proof system can withstand adverse conditions for several years, and it can also be modified depending on the user’s needs: A small solar panel could be connected to the system in order to cover FarmBot’s electricity needs, or a small weather station so that Farmbot’s work adjusts to various weather conditions. It can also support water recycling, via a rain barrel to collect and store rainwater for your garden’s needs. Apart from independent users who like to grow their own food, the developer hopes that his creation will also be useful to the research community, for precise growing experiments. This first ever open-source CNC farming machine, with designs and software to be found online, will be available for pre-order in July.
