Areas burnt from wildfires, in north central Washington, are now buried under rocks, mud and water as a result of the heavy rain which fell in the area the last days. There were no reports of injuries however communications through radio and phone are difficult as communication towers were damaged by the fires a few months back. Watch the extent of damage in the video below!
According to the Transportation Department, sections of Highway 20 and 153 remained closed, as a result of the flash flooding and mudslides induced by heavy rain. The damage extent is due to this summer's wildfires that burst in the area, which burned more than 400square miles, stripping entire hillsides from vegetation. Based on Okanogan County Sheriff's estimate, Frank Rogers, about 10 homes are believed to have been destroyed, either after being knocked off their foundations or covered in mud.
