The area seeks to become a special tourist destination for this Christmas
The Spanish architect Fernando Menis is in charge of this year's Christmas lighting in the town of La Oliva on the Canary Island Fuerteventura. Menis has proposed a series of installations made from objects and materials abandoned in the surrounding area and the town’s coastal hotels, such as inflatable floats, surfboards, beach toys, etc. Since the area has been depending on tourism for decades, its mayor was looking for ways for it to stand out internationally through attractions. So, he commissioned Menis to transform La Oliva into a special tourist destination for this Christmas. The special creations and decorations will be lit with LED lighting, while others will be powered by solar panels.
