Last week, eruptions from the Colima volcano in Mexico required hundreds of citizens to evacuate the area. The volcano is located approximately 300 miles west of Mexico City.
In the villages of La Yerbabuena and La Becerrera situated near the base of the mountain, over 350 people were forced to leave their homes and move to a safer area. The nearby town of Jalisco reportedly evacuated as well. This is not the first time volcanic activity here has required emergency measures. Earlier this year a similar incident caused evacuations of the surrounding areas. Government officials stated that these events could be indicative of the first possible major eruption since 1913.
