Given the rate and direction of full dip of a plane or seam, find path gradients in three different directions, (a) due N, (b) N 75o E, (c) due E.

Known values:

Full dip direction = N 30o E

Full dip rate = 1 in 4 (AB = 4)

Solution:

(a) Apparent dip rate due N = 1 in c (AC = c)

(b) Apparent dip rate due N 75o E = 1 in d (AD = d)

(a) Apparent dip rate due E = 1 in e (AE = e)
