| Rigid Pavement construction - Patras, May - September 2000 |
The pavement of the road next to the harbor of Patras has suffered many damages from the great traffic. Therefore it has been decided that a rigid pavement should be constructed. The road has been constructed in parts since it was not possible to close the road. In fig.4 you can see that on the left side the rigid pavement is constructed. In the middle the steel armament without concrete. And on the right you can see the road lane which is still in use. Above the concrete slab a thin layer 5 cm thick of asphalt was has been laid. In fig.3 you can see a worker bonding the steel rods and constructing the armament. Fig.2&3 is a closer view of the rigid pavement |
