Significant rainfall moved across Central Texas over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, 2015, causing flooding damage to Austin and the surrounding towns of Blanco, Wimberley, San Marcos, and Bastrop.
On May 27 and 29, 2015 a team of civil engineers and engineering geologists, sponsored by the National Science Foundation through the Geotechnical Extreme Events Reconnaissance (GEER) Association, visited failed bridges along the Blanco River and a failed earth dam in Bastrop to assess the damage.
The GEER reconnaissance report describes the team's observations, information gathered about the rainfall event and the infrastructure affected, and key findings regarding the failures.
